Our Approach to Training

At NX Level, we believe to be an athlete, you need to train like an athlete. Athletes in all sports require explosive power, muscular endurance and maximal strength -- or some combination of all of these in order to excel.

It's no secret that athletes who are quicker, stronger and who have greater flexibility will perform at a higher level. With this in mind, NX Level performance coaches chart each training session beforehand with specific drills and exercises aimed at improving movement and strength. They vary the workout routine each time you come in -- pushing you to dig a little deeper and work harder.

As part of our "holisitc" training approach, sessions also allow for time to be spent with the athlete discussing and working with them on regeneration (recovery, adapting their body to stress, etc.), nutrition (proper diet, supplements, etc. ) and injury prevention (flexibility, stability, prehabilitation exercises, etc.).

We believe in our training methods. The passion and knowledge of our performance coaches make the demanding training sessions both worthwhile and enjoyable for the athlete. The greatest compliment paid to us is nearly 100% of our athletes renew their training sessions year after year.

Why? Because at NX Level we have a history of making athletes better.

Training Program
"Core" strength training (back, hips, glutes and abdominal muscles) is important for stabilization and balance so an athlete can compete at a higher level. "Agility" training helps an athlete apply basic speed to sport-specific movements. We use agility ladder drills with varied steps and movements, coupled with cone drills, to enhance coordination, foot speed and the ability to function in open space. "Speed" training -- moving and accelerating faster -- is used to condition an athlete's neuromuscular system to improve the firing patterns of of the fast twitch muscle ffibers.

In order to ensure that each athlete has developed a full range of tools to support them as they pursue their goals, NX Level performance coaches guide them through a pre-designed program ranging from general athletic to specific sport training, individually and in small groups. Working on musculature that is often overlooked and then building to the more specific leads to predictable outcomes of advanced ability and athleticism.

General Training Level
Body weight as resistance only; work full range of motion; core strengthening and awareness; body-brain quickness and reaction; hand-eye and eye-foot coordination; dynamic and corrective flexibility; deceleration training; speed mechanics; and general conditioning.

Special Training Level
Full-body free-weight resistance training; Olympic weight lifting technique; speed and agility; first step quickness; multi-directional movement skills; sport-specific agility; power development with low impact plyometric work; top-speed training; and starting speed in all directions.

Specific Training Level
Full-body free-weight training; full Olympic weight lifting including "compound" multi-joint weight lifting (squat, dead lift, chest presses, pull downs, etc.) and "isolation" weight training; advanced agility drills; vertical jump; and medium to high impact explosive training and plyometrics.
