Volleyball Training

At NX Level we work to develop sport specific power to help each individual athlete reach his or her performance goals. Power development is accomplished through speed and strength training.

Speed Training
Specifically, a volleyball player has to be able to decelerate properly from a jump to an athletic stance in order to repeat that jump, stay square to the net and explode out laterally in a shuffle. Deceleration is extremely important for female athletes in regards to knee stability and ACL injury prevention. Acceleration is that first step to move laterally or linearly to square up on a ball for a block, or the beginning of an explosive approach to the net for a game winning spike.

Strength Training
Point of contact comes into play when the athlete greets the ball for a spike or a block above the net. Shoulder and core integrity is crucial in spiking and creating a connection between the core and shoulder for increased ball velocity. NX Level will use all full body lifts such as Olympic lifting, front and back squats, all angles of pressing with bars and dumbbells. These lifts improve total body development, movement, flexibility, and conditioning for the sport of volleyball.

Professionals trained by Brad Arnett:
• Bre Ladd (Gatorade HS player of the year)
• Kim Glass (Gatorade HS player of the year runner up)
• Dana Burkholder (PAC 10 and NCAA Player of the Year)

“I personally saw my athletes improve on how high they jumped and how quickly they moved. In the fourteen years I have been working at Arizona, my athletes showed the greatest measurable improvement while Brad was Head Strength Coach.”  – Dave Rubio, University of Arizona Head Volleyball Coach
